Classical Guitar Concert in Santa Cruz: "Guitarra en Fisterra" series features Emilia Díaz-Delgado
South Bay Guitar Society, with support from Hill Guitar Company, is proud to present classical guitar virtuoso Emilia Díaz-Delgado in a special free concert at the UCSC Seymour Marine Discovery Center, La Feliz Room, in Santa Cruz, CA. Join us on Sunday, April 20, 2025, for a lovely spring evening of classical guitar music performed by one of today’s most exciting young talents! The concert begins at 5:00 p.m., with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
The performance is part of South Bay Guitar Society's new Guitarra en Fisterra series, showcasing world-class guitarists in a unique coastal setting. The Seymour Marine Discovery Center lies at the edge of the Pacific Ocean on the west end of Santa Cruz, offering breathtaking views and an inspiring setting for an unforgettable concert experience.

About Emilia Díaz-Delgado
Emilia Díaz-Delgado is a highly acclaimed classical guitarist based in San Francisco, California. She currently studies with renowned instructors Meng Su and David Tanenbaum at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Pre-College Division, where she has been the recipient of several awards. Her previous teachers include Scott Cmiel (2018–2023) and Igor Avila Soria (2014–2018).
Emilia’s collaborations and performances include appearances with Omni Concerts, South Bay Guitar Society, Austin Classical Guitar, and NPR’s From The Top. Recently, she premiered Chopiniana #10 by celebrated composer Sérgio Assad as part of his collaboration with Knobloch Strings, The Woman and the Guitar, a collection of 24 preludes performed by leading female guitarists.

Beyond the concert stage, Emilia is passionate about using music to support meaningful causes. She has organized charity performances and community concerts benefiting organizations such as the National Audubon Society, Wild Bird Rescue & Rehab, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and the Homeless Children’s Network. She also partners with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Notes for Nourishment to present public performances.
Emilia has studied with and performed in masterclasses for many of the world’s leading guitarists, including Sérgio Assad, Manuel Barrueco, Bokyung Byun, Zoran Dukić, Marcin Dylla, Mark Eden, Raphaël Feuillâtre, Eliot Fisk, Smaro Gregoriadou, Pablo Garibay, Jiji, David Leisner, João Luiz, Michael Newman, Laura Oltman, Judicaël Perroy, David Russell, Richard Savino, Johan Smith, Laura Snowden, Christopher Stell, Marc Teicholz, Ben Verdery, and Jason Vieaux.
In addition to her musical achievements, Emilia is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has been screened at festivals in the U.S., Paris, Beijing, Bulgaria, Romania, Brazil, Italy, Costa Rica, Russia, and England. In her free time, she enjoys studying Renaissance counterpoint, modernist composers, and reading about philosophy, logic, and music history.
